Rockburn Escape is located just 15 minutes from Geraldine, 30 minutes from Timaru and 2 hours from Christchurch.
The local town of Geraldine is home to several boutique shops and quality eateries. While there, take a stroll through one of the many tracks in talbot forest, have a leisurely coffee, and shop for locally made produce to enjoy back in the tranquillity of the cabin.
Closer to home you will find plenty of nature walks and historic sites a few minutes drive or bike from the accommodation, including the Kakahu bush walk and lime kiln, the escarpment and the Richard Pierce Memorial.
If you’re looking to venture out for a day trip, the surrounding area offers a wealth of options to suit every interest, from leisurely forest strolls and historic landmarks to picturesque alpine drives and charming local towns waiting to be explored.
To the north Peel Forrest offers a variety of tracks to stroll along or challenge yourself to climb Little Mt Peel. Or venture inland to Fairle, home of the famous Fairlie Bakehouse, only a short 30 minute drive away. Continue your drive from Fairle, through Burks Pass to reach the pristine Lake Tekapo.
If visiting in the winter adrenaline seekers should be sure to take advantage of Mt Dobson, Roundhill and Mt Hutt ski fields, each about a 90 minute drive.
